At night, my dad has always read me my bedtime story in Dutch. First toddler stories from Jip en Janneke. Later he read real books from his youth hero, Jan Zonder Vrees. These stories happen in the Middle Ages.
More recently we have started reading Kuifje, or Tintin in English. The new thing is that I read too, so that I can see how Dutch is written and practice my pronunciation.
